Storage and Shelf Life
Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. Follow these guidelines to maintain freshness:
- Remove air from the bag and securely close the zip lock.
- If the zip lock is damaged, fold the top of the bag several times and secure it with a clip.
- Keep food in the original bag; do not transfer it to other plastic bags or containers.
- Use the contents within 8 weeks of opening.
- Purchase Harrison's products only in their original packaging.
- Refrigerate or freeze the food after opening to help preserve freshness.
Converting to Harrison's
- Consult an avian veterinarian before making changes to your bird's diet and schedule annual checkups.
- Gradually introduce Harrison's by mixing it with the current diet and monitoring acceptance.
- If necessary, transition over four weeks, increasing Harrison's by 25% weekly while reducing the previous food by 25%, until the prior diet can be fully replaced.
- If additional encouragement is needed, scatter Harrison's nuggets on white paper or a mirror placed on the enclosure floor.
