Storage and Shelf Life
Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. Follow these guidelines to maintain freshness:
- Remove excess air from the bag and seal it securely using the zip lock.
- If the zip lock is removed or damaged, fold the top tightly and secure it with a clip.
- Store food in its original packaging; do not transfer it to plastic bags or containers.
- Consume the contents within 8 weeks of opening.
- Only purchase Harrison's Bird Foods in their original, sealed packaging.
- Refrigerating or freezing after opening may help preserve freshness.
Converting to Harrison's
- Consult an avian veterinarian prior to making any dietary changes and schedule annual check-ups thereafter.
- Gradually introduce Harrison's by mixing it with your bird's current diet. Monitor acceptance.
- If a gradual transition is needed, increase the proportion of Harrison's by 25% per week over four weeks, reducing the previous diet by the same amount until the transition is complete.
- If necessary, scatter nuggets on white paper or a mirror on the floor of the enclosure to encourage interest.

- Harrison's Bird Foods should make up 70% of your bird's daily diet.
- The remaining 25% should consist of organic dark green leafy or dark yellow vegetables and fruits such as sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, or papaya.
- Do not offer supplemental vitamins unless directed by an avian veterinarian.
- Avoid using other formulated diets alongside Harrison's, as this may reduce the food's intended benefits.
