Storage and Shelf Life
Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. Follow these guidelines to maintain freshness:
- Remove air from the bag and seal it securely using the zip closure.
- If the zip closure is damaged or missing, fold the top of the bag tightly and secure it with a clip.
- Store food in its original packaging. Do not transfer into plastic bags or other containers.
- Consume the contents within 8 weeks of opening.
- Only purchase Harrison's products in their original packaging.
- Refrigerating or freezing the food after opening can help retain freshness.
Converting to Harrison's
- Consult an avian veterinarian before making any dietary changes and annually thereafter.
- Gradually mix Harrison's with the bird's current diet to monitor acceptance.
- If more time is needed, transition over four weeks, increasing Harrison's by 25% each week and reducing the previous diet accordingly until it is fully replaced.
- To encourage consumption, scatter Harrison's nuggets on white paper or a reflective surface within the enclosure if necessary.
